Fergana invites JPC to the opening reception of SUB_URBAN, at 2 p.m., Saturday 15 August at Fergana Art Space (George Town, Penang). SUB_URBAN is a group exhibition by Abdul Mansoor Ibrahim, Ajim Juxta, Fuad Pathil, Niranjan Rajah and Siti Nur Balqis Abdul Halim. 
The prefix sub- denotes a lower position, almost or close to a compared subject yet retain a noticeable distance; and subordinate to the dominant or commonly assumed standard. This group exhibition features artists from diverse backgrounds and artistic practices who deal with issues and situations related to contemporary urban living experience. 

In this exhibition, Abdul Mansoor Ibrahim observes the periphery and the paradoxes of our contemporary society through the lens of birds and microscopic milieu of insects within our familiar environments. Siti Nur Balqis Abdul Halim questions the balance between urban development and nature preservation in her on-going series, Aku Mahu Hidup / I Want to Live. Fuad Pathil reimagines Penang through different vantage points.Penghuni Distopia Siri are Ajim Juxta’s reflections on material culture and spiritual well being. Niranjan Rajah explores Malaysian social life, politics and art from a personal perspective in a series of photographs.
